Things I Always Say

The following quotes are things I always say to clients, friends, family, students, etc!! Call them Shirisms if you like.

Legs up the wall

  • “Put your legs up the wall to feel the reversal of the blood flow.” This is great for many people, especially if you sit or stand all day. It’s essential for IBDers to bring blood flow into the belly.
  • “If you have belly pain or bloating and don’t know what’s going on, get it checked out.” It’s better to know then not to know. Once you find out what you’re dealing with, then you can figure out how you are going to make changes. Be proactive about your health.
  • “Breathe” When life gets rough, simply breathe. Feel your breath and notice it. Being present will take you out of your stress.
  • “You are what you eat.”
  • “Slide your shoulders down and away from your ears to release stress.”
  • “Traveling does NOT mean you have to sacrifice your healthy eating habits.” Research where to eat before you leave. There’s no excuse to binge or eat like crap while away.
  • “A clutter free home means a clutter free mind.”
  • “Whatever your disease, you have the ability to make the change. Get out of your own way and fly!”

My favorite quote: “If you feel bound, you are bound. If you feel liberated, you are liberated. Nothing outside neither binds nor liberates you – only you can do that.” –Sri Swami Saatchidinanda
