Shira is a yoga loving, gluten free eating, health tip giving goddess.

  1. Shira has ulcerative colitis and has a mission to cure it. Giving up is not in the cards. Read her blog to find out more about how she has healed herself.
  2. Shira has a cat named Kali, after the Hindi goddess.
  3. Shira loves anything with peanut butter, preferably refined sugar free, dairy free and gluten free!
  4. Shira’s weakness is dairy free ice cream; particularly from Lula’s Apothecary in New York City– their flavor death by chocolate almost brought tears to her eyes it was that delicious.
  5. Shira loves family gatherings
  6. Shira has a sister who is 6 ½ years older then her and is always mistaken for her twin.
  7. Shira’s all time favorite book is The Bridges of Madison County by Robert James Waller, she’s a sucker for romance. In terms of health and wellness, her favorite book is Dr. Weil’s Spontaneous Healing.
  8. Shira loves driving in her Toyota with the sunroof open on a sunny day, listening to music she can belt out to – the act of singing brings her a form of meditation.
  9. Shira loves Iyengar yoga. Although she doesn’t teach it, she appreciates the attention to alignment and use of props.
  10. Shira meditates for 30 minutes, practices breath work and yoga postures every single day. Some days her practice changes and she has learned to accept it, embrace it and love it.

In addition, Shira is a 500 hour certified Yoga Teacher with specialties in digestive health, restorative yoga and kids yoga. She is an AntiGravity certified instructor and owns Soul Flyte in Nyack, NY – an AntiGravity yoga and fitness studio. Shira is also a Certified Holistic Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City and enjoys teaching adults and kids how to eat and cook healthy food. Shira practices a holistic lifestyle and has a passion for teaching others to find their own paths. Her own personal style of yoga focuses on Vinyasa. She has studied with William Duprey, Lauren Hanna, Johanna Bell, Yogi Charu, Judith Hansen Lasater, Christopher Harrison, with influence from Sri Dharma Mittra and Shiva Rhea.

Shira’s teaching style focuses on guiding her students through proper alignment, breath work, and guided meditation.
